The Counteracts from Kent, UK, are a collaboration between songwriters Simon J. Biscoe and Doug Smith. Simon first got into music whilst still at school, where he helped form The Contacts, and he has also played in a covers band, The Ghostriders. Simon now plays Bass, and enjoys writing songs on his own, and in collaboration with others.
Doug was a classically trained pianist as a child. Since 2010, he has been writing, recording and collaborating with various other musicians, contributing to Bands including GLAD, SilverSmith and The Contacts, as well as releasing his own music under the moniker Dag Smith.
The Counteracts first met in January 2015, and their initial intention was to record some original songs that Simon had in reserve, as a side-line to the Band they were in together. However, the reaction to their first two songs was so favourable, that they decided to record more original tracks and covers, and The Counteracts soon became their main focus. February 2018 saw the release of their first album, The Curse of The Counteracts, which contained 14 original tracks.
Oli Barton & The Movement
Oli Barton & The Movement are the sound of tomorrow played today, inspired by yesterday to reach next week, inspiring next month. Whether it be the BBC, the indie press or their mass of incredible fans, everyone is in agreement; if you don’t know Oli Barton & The Movement, then you know nothing.
Much is said about Oli, the leader of the group. What is true is that he is a MENSA certified genius, hardcore animal rights activist and among the most gifted entertainers of his generation. Nourished by the spirit of Syd Barrett laying dormant inside of him, the eccentricity and talent of his writing is often imitated, never paralleled but always enjoyed.
Amongst the talents in the group are the unstoppable Ryan Wilson and Jamal Lagoon on guitars, Marco Paone (the Italian Stallion) on bass and Josh Needham’s talents for thrashing bare skin. Needless to say, the Movement are the future of British music. Tortured, menacing, kinky, smart, and as deliriously entertaining as watching an elephant juggling bowling balls riding a tricycle, rest assured Oli Barton & The Movement can be put firmly next to the greats. Make sure to watch them as they assert their place in the pantheon of great British acts.
Jhenni is a singer/songwriter currently living in Shropshire, having co-founded Tootsiey Music Productions Ltd with fellow songwriter/producer Dave Bruce some 3 years ago.
Having begun her career as a singer and lyricist, Jhenni honed her song writing skills over the development of her two previous albums “Reconstructed Wings” and “Songs From The Secret Garden”.Jhenni has a unique voice, a creative style of writing and sings by promoting positivity and inner strength through her music. Jhenni wants to portray to those listening to her songs that if you believe in your colours, your colours will believe in you. With passion and love and determination in your heart, one can travel amongst the cosmic stream.
The single “Splash The World With Your Colours” is an energetic pop song, exuberant and fun with an empowering message, crafted through the artist’s love of storytelling. Sharing Jhenni’s visual perception of what is meant by “colour canvas living” and #coloursful, Jhenni hopes the song will put a smile on the faces of those who listen to its positive message.
“A little bit of me” is the debut album of Evelyn Laurie. As she says: it’s taken her a while!
Beautifully delivered in Evelyn’s distinctive, light and multi-textured voice and superbly supported by some of the country’s finest jazz musicians, the well-chosen collection of songs will please your ears and stir your emotions – in a good way!
Having made her first singing appearance on stage at the age of 4 (a talent show in Arbroath!), Evelyn has sung in many styles from folk to choral to opera. Around 12 years ago, she began her training in vocal jazz and since then has performed professionally at gigs around Scotland.
Evelyn’s love of music spans many genres. This album reflects her eclectic taste and includes some of her own songs – inspired by 1960’s spy themes and Carmina Burana – alongside jazz standards plus her own interpretations of Sandy Denny’s folk classic, “Who knows where the time goes” and the ever popular country hit, “Wichita lineman”.
The wonderful Euan Stevenson on piano leads a stellar line up of Mario Caribe on bass, Tom Gordon, percussion, Frank Bolam, guitar, and Konrad Wiszniewski on tenor sax.
The album was recorded in Glasgow by Gus Stirrat at Solas Sound and mastered by Iain Hutchison at Gloworm Recording Ltd.

Reflections from an Airport is a must-buy album. It’s an album for busy people who have earned the right to take a moment to stop and let the world drift by. It’s for people who deserve ‘me time’. So indulge and treat yourself to some time away from the pressures that life may throw at you.
The album has songs that will make you smile, make you laugh, make you cry and make you think. Drawn from life’s experiences, each song tells a story and paints a picture we can all relate too. It touches on basic human truths we all share in common… like love won and lost in all its guises.
Andy writes songs for adults. His songs are for people who have lived a full life. For people who can relate to the highs and lows of daily living and know it’s not all ‘happy ever after but the ride can be fun.’ Listen to the songs and discover this for yourself.
Andy is well known in the London and Bristol folk scene. He recently moved to Scotland. His compositions reflect the excitement and majesty of London and the breathtaking beauty of the Hebrides of Scotland. The Isle of Barra has a special place in his heart. Having spent what feels like a life time travelling the globe it is not surprising his music derive ideas, style and tastes from a broad diverse range of sources.
With help from some of the best musicians in the country such as Graeme Duffin of Wet Wet Wet and produced by Sandy Jones FML, it’s an album of such quality you will want to listen to it over and over again.
The artwork produced by Birnam CD captures the essence of each song and rounds of the album as a piece of unprecedented art. It brings to life the touching and personal feel of the album.
Reflections from and Airport is not an album you simply buy for yourself. It’s an album you buy for your friends. You will want to share it. Don’t take my word for this – buy it and discover this for yourself.
Remember, we're always looking for fresh talent to broadcast and promote, if you want to be involved you can provide us with some information about yourself as well as uploading a demo here.
